Wrestling Match: Benton vs BryantThe first ever wrestling match between rivals Benton Panthers and Bryant Hornets is set for February 13th at the Benton Arena. Weigh-ins begin at 8:30 AM and the meet will begin at 10:00 am. This is a great sport that is in its infant stages in Arkansas. The first Benton-Bryant meet would be a great way for people in this area to find out more about the sport.

Saline County Razorback Fish FryAnnual Fish Fry March 15, 2010 Featuring Head Football Coach Bobby Petrino Adult Hogs $15.00 Kids Six and under Free Dinner Served 5p.m. – 7p.m. Benton High School Cafeteria Speaker 7 p.m. Benton High School Auditorium Door Prizes – Silent Auction – Raffle There will be a live auction of a framed team picture of the 1964 National Championship team signed by Coach Frank Broyles and an actual piece of turf from Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium and a plaque commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the Razorbacks. This piece is a limited edition – one of twenty five. There will also be a silent auction of framed prints of Razorback and Dallas Cowboy memorabilia. A raffle of $2.00 each will be sold at the fish fry for 2 season football tickets to the Little Rock Football games. There will be two drawings (two winners) for the tickets. Tickets can be purchased at Summit Bank, Benton Area Chamber of Commerce, Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce, Sport Shop in Benton, Denton’s Trotline in Benton and Yoakum & Lovell CPA’s of Benton. Arkansas High School All-StarsSeveral athletes from Benton High School and Bryant High School have been selected to Arkansas High School All-Star Game squads. The games are played on the campus of the University of Arkansas Fayetteville in June. Spots for the East football squad were earned by Bryant running back Chris Rycraw and offensive lineman Kaleb Burns. Rycraw broke the single-season and career-rushing records at Bryant High School. The West volleyball squad will feature two Benton volleyball players, Ty Lindberg and Sam Comet. The Lady Panthers won the state championship under coach Brandy Chumley, who earned a spot as assistant coach on the West squad. Benton cheerleaders Carly Glover and Katie Mills join coach Karen Hilborn on the West cheer squad. The Benton High School Cheerleader squad was recently named the National Cheerleaders Association National High School Champions for their division. MacKenzie Cole and Cara Prichard will represent Bryant High School on the East dance team. Benton High School is represented by Hannah Eddington and Jordan Fletcher on the West dance team.

Benton High School Cheerleaders Win Nationals
DALLAS, TX – December 29, 2009, the Benton High School Cheerleader squad was named the National Cheerleaders Association National High School Champions for their division By a 0.65 point margin, the 20-member team beat out Coppell High School of Coppell, Texas in overall point judging, said coach Karen Hilborn. Members of the squad are: Brynne Simmons, Co-Capt. Carly Glover, Co-Capt. Livi Meadors, Co-Capt. Laura Cooper, Co-Capt. Bailey Mustain, Capt. Katie Mills, Kaylee Wingerter, Lindi Viner, Manager Hillary Quinn, Mallory Croft, Stephanie Qandah, Lauren Goines, Jenny Belz, Jacie Gregory, Jessica Simmons, Holly Mills, Kaitlyn Nalley, Cori Dobbins, Keeleigh O’Neal, Jenny Chilton, and Carley Creel. The 7th Annual Summit Bank Spa City ShootoutThis year’s Summit Bank Spa City Shootout at Summit Arena in Hot Springs will feature a format of 16 high school basketball teams competing in a round-robin tournament. 2009 Salt Bowl Shootout SplitThe Panthers extended their lead to 52-41 late in the fourth quarter to win the annual Salt Bowl Shootout at UALR’s Jack Stephens Center on Friday night as both teams wrapped up their pre-Christmas schedule. The Lady Hornets improved to 9-0 on the season with a 70-56 win over their rivals in the annual Salt Bowl Shootout at UALR’s Stephens Center on Friday night.
